Karnataka Congress leader booked for sexually harassing school teacher

Bengaluru police have registered an FIR against B Gurappa Naidu, General Secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and Chairman of BGS Bloom Field School in Thyagaraja Nagar, for allegedly sexually harassing a former teacher.
The 38-year-old complainant, who worked at the school from March 2021 to August 2023, alleged that Naidu repeatedly summoned her to his office, made inappropriate advances, and verbally abused her when she resisted. She also accused him of recording explicit videos of victims and using them to intimidate and silence them.
The teacher claimed Naidu targeted multiple women from vulnerable backgrounds and created a climate of fear within the school. “Since the women are from poor backgrounds, they were afraid to come forward,” the FIR quoted her as saying. She lodged a complaint at Channammanakere Achukattu police station on November 26, after confiding in her mother and quitting her job.
The police have booked Naidu under relevant sections related to sexual harassment, intimidation, and insulting a woman’s modesty.
Speaking to reporters, DCP (South) Lokesh Jagalasur confirmed that an investigation has been initiated.
Naidu, however, dismissed the allegations as “baseless” and part of a conspiracy by RTI activists. “These are fake cases filed by individuals with vested interests. I hardly visited the school, and we have a principal and administrator who handle its operations. I will hold a press conference soon to address this,” Naidu said.
The police are continuing their investigation to verify the claims and gather evidence from the school and its staff.
